Weesa Boyd Vocals, Flutes, Whistles, Hammered Dulcimer
Weesa began playing concert flute in elementary school and later added “Irish” flutes and whistles. Currently she plays an African Blackwood flute made by George Ormmiston of Scotland and Patrick O’Riordan Irish Whistles. She fell in love with Hammered Dulcimer while on a visit to Mountain View, Arkansas, and she currently plays a Rick Thum Professional Model Hammered Dulcimer.
She developed a love of Celtic music watching Riverdance. and her family has traveled to Chicago and Dallas for live performances of this great show. Later, she literally bumped into the Little Rock Irish Session while they were jamming at a local bookstore, an association that continues to this day.
She is a member of the Arkansas Celtic Music Society and the Arkansas Dulcimer Society. Weesa was previously part of the band, Heartstrings which won the Regional
Dulcimer Ensemble competition in Mountain View in 2002. From 2002 to 2012 she was a part of the Celtic music trio, Sligo, an Arkansas Arts Council Artists on Tour member.
She currently makes her home in Little Rock. On three occasions it has been her pleasure to travel to Ireland where she enjoyed jamming with local Irish musicians.
